Why Was My Credit Card Declined?

How Can We Help?

Print

Unfortunately, we do not receive specific reasons from the payment gateway why a card was declined.  We only receive an approval or a declination.

You will need to contact your financial institution directly to determine why your card was declined.

Common Reasons

Incorrect Information

You might have entered the card information correctly.  Please verify that the card number, expiration, and CVV code are correct.   Additionally, ensure that the address on file matches the billing address of your credit card.

Insufficient Balance

Your card may not have sufficient funds to process the charge.   Perhaps a recent payment has yet to be posted or another merchant has placed a hold on your account.  You can typically log in to your credit card account online to check its status.

Unsupported Card Type

We only accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express cards.  Please make sure you only use these card types when making payments or for automatic billing.

Fraud Detection

There could be a fraud hold on your card preventing new transactions or there could be a mismatch in the address zip code on file versus the information attached to your card.  Please ensure that the billing address you use matches the billing address on your credit card.

There are several reasons why a card transaction could be declined.  You will need to contact your financial institution directly to determine the exact cause.
